Lumenia run a ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility programme and to give something back to the community.

Each year employees are given the opportunity to nominate their chosen charity and the selected charity is chosen by employee vote.

The Chosen Charities

Irish Cancer Society

The 2019 Lumenia Charity of the Year winner is the the Irish Cancer Society. This year, employees Bernie Callaghan & Jim Goodison nominated the Irish Cancer Society, to receive a donation of €7,500.  They choose this Charity for the outstanding support they give to cancer patients and they both lost family and friends to the disease.The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity in the Republic of Ireland dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem, and improving the lives of those who have cancer.

Make-A-Wish

The 2018 Lumenia Charity of the Year winner is Make-A-Wish Ireland. Make-A-Wish Ireland received a donation of €5,000 from Lumenia Consulting.  The charity was nominated by employee Jon Marshall, a consultant with Lumenia. Jon chose this charity because of the great support they provided his family when one of his children fell ill at a young age.  Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – we grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since 1992, Make-A-Wish Ireland has granted wishes for more than 2,000 brave children across the country.

Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association

The 2015 Lumenia Charity of the Year winner was the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). The IMNDA received a donation of €7,500. IMNDA was nominated by Linda Davey, Marketing Manager at Lumenia. Linda choose this charity because of its ongoing support to sufferers of this debilitating disease and its campaign to increase awareness and raise vital funds for research.

Pieta House

The '2014 Lumenia Charity of the Year' was Pieta House and was nominated by employee Mairead Davin. A donation of €7,500 has been made to Pieta House.

Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre providing a professional, one-to-one therapeutic service for people who are experiencing suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm. Anyone can access the service; it is completely free of charge and a doctor’s referral or psychiatric report is not required. Most people are referred to Pieta House by family members or friends.
